With the wide application of IT in the medical and health field, the demand for compound

talent at all levels of medical institutions have become an urgent and primary issue in the medical

informationization construction, application and management. According to the State Council "on the

further strengthening of personnel decisions" and the "national health information technology

development planning framework (2003-2010)" spirit of the documents, to expedite the national

health industry informationization construction pace, educate skilled professionals that rapid

development of the health industry informationization construction needed, enhance all of the

medical staff with the medical IT applications of the overall level, the National Institute of

Hospital Administration (NIHA) decided to hold a nationwide "national Medical information education

(Nmie)" with the support of the relevant departments. The aim is to establish and perfect China's

"information-based education system in medical industry," and to be an important basis to guide the

IT talented persons demand in the health industry informationization construction; to be a key

indicator to measure the medical information system planning, implementation and evaluation;to be a

bridge and link of our medical personnel to go out of the country to connect with the world; to be

a modern tool that our entire medical staff and students of medical institutions must master; thus

enhancing the overall service level of medical and health industry to provide more quality services

for more patients.

        The project is currently the only information technology training and certification

authority project in medical health industry in China, and has been included in the 2005 national

continuing medical education project [item number : 2005-15-02-022 (country)].
