2006年全国普通高等学校医药专业招生39.2万人，比上年增加5.3万人；在校生126.9万人，增加13.6万人；毕业生25.3万人，增加5.1万人。全国中等职业学校(包括普通中专、成人中专和职业高中)医药专业招生49.2万人，比上年增加3.8万人；在校生132.9万人，增加10.2万人；毕业生35.1万人，增加2.0万人。
2006年末,全国医学在职培训机构454个,总人员1.5万人。
